Location Of Whale Puzzles Scientists
On a remote island near the mouth of the Amazon River, something was found that stunned local scientists. A rare humpback whale was discovered fifty feet onshore making the incident even stranger. Some local scientists speculated that the recent super snow moon may have caused an unusually high tide bringing the whale fifty feet onshore.
Found in oceans and seas around the world, humpback whales typically migrate up to 25,000 km (16,000 mi) each year. They feed in polar waters, and migrate to tropical or subtropical waters to breed and give birth, fasting and living off their fat reserves. Their diet consists mostly of krill and small fish. Humpbacks have a diverse repertoire of feeding methods, including the bubble net technique.
A Whale In The Amazon River?
Nobody has agreed on a definitive explanation as to why this rare 10-ton whale would be swimming in the Amazon River. One theory posed suggested the whale was sick or hungry then became lost.
